Help Us Bring Our Music To the Mouse
In February, the Wakefield High School Marching Band and Color Guard and both a capella groups, Voices of Steel and She Major, will be flying to Florida to attend Disney World, marching in the Downtown Disneyparade, performing for park attendees, and participating in workshops to hone their craft. To help the musicians pay for their trip, the music boosters and musicians will be doing a lot of fund raising throughout this year.
The Boosters are offering an exciting opportunity for individuals, too.Saturday, October 8, individuals and businesses are encouraged to bring bags and boxes of documents to be shredded to the high school, where a professional paper shredding truck will destroy documents of all sorts for a small fee. Unless your finances and taxes are very complicated, it is now recommended that records be kept only three years instead of seven, as was previously required. Credit card and utility bills can be destroyed after one year. Start boxing or bagging your files today and bring them to the high school the morning of October 8 and watch as a professional shredder securely destroys your documents. Think of how much space you will gain by getting rid of all those papers!
Marching Band fans will want to catch at least some of the twenty performances at Landrigan Field later that day. Wakefield's biggest competition ever will be held October 8. The competition is fierce, and the performances are stunning.
Keep checking back for ways to support this effort. We will be leaf raking, having dinners at local restaurants, events at local entertainment venues as well as raffles. Please support the students in their efforts to "Bring Our Music to the Mouse!"
