Wakefield Named One of Best Communities for Music Education for 2015
March 24, 2015
Four out of five years, Wakefield has been chosen once again as one of the communities to have a strong Music Education program for 2015. In addition to Wakefield, there were also 13 other Massachusetts community chosen.
"The Best Communities for Music Education program plays an important part of the
NAMM Foundation’s efforts to make music education part of the core curriculum assuring that the benefits of music making are available to every child. Numerous studies have demonstrated that learning to play music can boost academic and social skills, lower disciplinary action and keep kids in schools."
Wakefield is lucky and proud to have such a wonderful, dedicated and talented music staff lead by Mr. Thomas Bankert, Director of Visual and Performing Arts. Mr. Bankert and his staff's hard work shines through our students and have produced award winning ensembles throughout the Wakefield Schools.
