Visual and Performing Arts Day
Dates: April 16, 2020
Each year, Wakefield's dedicated Arts educators put together an art show and concert called VPAD which showcases the work of talented students from every grade level in the Wakefield Public Schools. The art show features drawings, paintings, printmaking, photography, and sculpture from art classes throughout the system. Thanks to funding from the Music Boosters, every child Grade K-8 enjoys a field trip to see the artwork first, including ceramics and computer graphics demonstrations by high school students, then hear a 45 minute concert featuring WHS theater and singing groups, string orchestras, and various bands, ending with a performance by the high school marching band. The art show is open to the public in the evening, so parents can see their children's work on display. Below are images and a video of the High School students performing at the 2017 and 2016 VPAD.
